The time is right for c-stores to stock up on

onvenience store candy trends have rapidly changed over the last few years as product
innovation has taken off in the category. These new introductions create category excitement,
as nearly one-quarter of U.S. consumers say they “often” experiment with buying new
confectionery products, according to a report from research company Canadean.
The most recent wave of confectionery product introductions addresses the emergence of
snacking as the fourth meal occasion or as a substitute or complement to main meals, said Tom Vierhile,
innovation insights director at Canadean. When it comes to sweet snacking, five big candy trends are
emerging this year.
