STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
Retailers met with legislators on Capitol Hill for the NACS
Government Relations Conference.
BY KELLY FINK
Nearly 120 convenience retailers, state association executives and industry suppliers traveled to Washington , D.C., in late February to participate in the NACS Government Relations Conference (
formerly called NACS Day on Capitol Hill). The updated
format of the event gave attendees an even greater
opportunity to learn directly from members of Congress
who participate in the decision-making process on
proposed legislation that may affect the retailers’ daily
lives, businesses and ultimately profits.
NACS secured a stellar line-up of special guests this
year. In addition to Paul Argyropoulos, senior policy
advisor at the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency,
and political analyst Jim Ellis, our attendees heard
Industry stakeholders chat with U.S.
Representative John Barrow (GA- 12)
during the congressional reception.
