Showing Off a New Side
Spar UK unveils a fresh store market-style design.

Spar UK is entering a fresh new era in store design with the launch of a flagship store — which it claims “paves the way
in convenience excellence.” According
to Spar, the new location (Spar Penwortham) in the northwest U.K. heralds the new face of the retail brand and
marks a huge step for the retailer.
The store features a new fascia design
by brand development agency Appetite,
which showcases a white background
with Spar in 3D and the store’s location
and owners’ details on the front, emphasizing the local focus of the store.
The store also has a new internal
color scheme to inspire a fresh look,
as well as new ambient modules to
display fruit, vegetables and bread, all
designed to create the look of an authentic market.
In addition to the host of items and
product ranges on offer, the store will
also feature new technologies and
concepts, such as free Wi-Fi and mobile phone charging units.
“Convenience retail is changing rap-
idly and at Spar, we want to be at the
front of the pack in leading this change
and to help our retailers be even better
and more successful than they already
are,” said Debbie Robinson, Spar UK
managing director. “We are really ex-
cited about Penwortham, which truly
is a store for the future and marks a
hugely innovative move for Spar.”
“The dynamic store design repre-
sents the next generation in conve-
nience retail, with a fresh, clean and
modern look that appeals to all shop-
pers,” she continued. “This new store
model is the best design used in the
convenience industry today, encom-
passing significant changes to the
store’s layout and ranges.”
